Presidential Election: PDP Ready To Form Alliance With Peter Obi – Atiku

  The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,Atiku Abubakar, has said they are ready to form an alliance with Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP  Atiku made this disclosure while speaking during a press conference on Thursday. “I don’t think we will have any problem if he (Obi) wants to dialogue with PDP — either form an alliance or not,” he said. Recall that Obi was Atiku’s running mate during the 2019 presidential election. However, this time around, both men were trying to secure the PDP ticket before Obi decamped to LP. Atiku finished second in the poll behind declared winner Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, while Obi came third. The two men are heading to court to contest the official INEC results.

The incident occurred Friday morning at Rumuekpe under Emohua Local Government Area.  Available information has it that the explosion, which also consumed vehicles, emanated from the tapping point of a pipeline. It was gathered that a driver had loaded one of the buses at the location with crude oil packaged in bags. Preparing to move the petroleum product away from the scence, he started the vehicle engine which triggered a blast. The man and others nearby are among the fatalities.

    Six states including Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Sokoto have dragged the federal government before the Supreme Court over the conduct, collation and announcement of the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections.  The All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared the winner of the presidential election, but the States want the Supreme Court to nullify that decision. They claimed that the Chairman of INEC’s announcement of the complete results of the presidential election at the National Collation Centre in Abuja was a clear breach of the Electoral Act. According to them, they want a declaration that the non-uploading of the results of each of the 176,974 Polling Units nationwide, in respect of the presidential election and National Assembly Elections were not in accordance with the provisions of the electoral act. A 19-yr-old boy allegedly commits suicide because Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party, lost presidential election.  The 19-year-old Plateau indigene hung himself and was discovered in an uncompleted building with his body hanging from a noose. He reportedly left a short suicide note behind in which he blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for his decision. The yet-to-be identified boy said he would rather end his life now rather than live in Nigeria because there is no hope for Nigeria after Obi lost the presidential election. The note reads; “No hope for Nigeria for the next 20 years after Obi lost the election, I’d rather end it now than to live in a hell called Nigeria. I will tell God inec killed me.” Sources said the teenager was part of the people that campaigned in the sun and rain for Obi in Plateau.

Supreme Court Orders Old N200, N500, N1,000 Notes To Remains In Circulation Till Dec 31  The apex court also nullified the Federal Government’s naira redesign olicy, declaring it as an affront to the 1999 Constitution. justice Emmanuel Agim, who read the lead judgement, held that the preliminary objections by the defendants (the Attorney General of the Federation, Bayelsa and Edo states) are dismissed as the court has the jurisdiction to entertain the suit. Citing Section 23(2)1 of the constitution, the court held that the dispute between the federation and states, must involve law or facts. The apex court further held that President Muhammadu Buhari in his broadcast, admitted that the policy is flawed with a lot of challenges. The court said the policy has led to some people engaging in trade by barter in this modern age, in a bid to survive.
